Thank you for expressing interest in the \u2018<\/span>Critical Studies of Artificial Intelligence and Education<\/span><\/b>\u2019.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n To inform this developing field, we would like to ask you some questions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>We aim to publish the outcomes of this questionnaire in an academic paper.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This research has been approved by the University College London Research Ethics Committee (REC1933, 5 February 2024). Data protection number: Z6364106\/2024\/01\/125.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For any information about this questionnaire, please do not hesitate to contact the Principal Investigator, Dr Wayne Holmes (<\/span>wayne.holmes@ucl.ac.uk<\/span><\/a>).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Before we ask you the questions, we will show you several screens of information. You will then be asked for your consent to continue your participation in this research.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n If you choose to answer this questionnaire and one or more of your responses are quoted in the proposed academic paper, those response(s) will be identified by your name, title\/role, affiliation, and country<\/span><\/p>\n In other words, <\/span>the outcomes of this questionnaire will NOT be anonymised in the proposed publication<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n This approach is designed to ensure that all contributors are properly credited for their ideas and\/or other contributions. <\/span>This is in alignment with the <\/span>British Educational Research Associations\u2019s Ethical Guidelines for Educational Research (4th Edition, 2018)<\/span><\/a> Clause 40.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n We are not promising to include any of your responses in the proposed academic paper. <\/span>We will only select and include those responses that we believe will contribute to the emerging field of \u2018Critical Studies of Artificial Intelligence and Education\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n Before the proposed paper is submitted for publication, you will have an opportunity to remove any or all of your responses that have been quoted in the paper.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Once the PI decides that the paper is ready to be submitted for review and publication in the usual way, and if at least one of your responses is included with your agreement in the paper, you will be asked whether you wish to be named as a co-author of the paper<\/span><\/p>\n If you confirm that you do wish to be named as a co-author, your name will be added to the co-author list. Note that this does not give you the right to require any changes to the paper.<\/span><\/p>\n If you remove all your responses from the proposed paper, you will not be invited to be a co-author<\/span><\/p>\n You may leave\/quit the questionnaire at any time without having to give a reason<\/span><\/p>\n We will begin by asking for your name, title\/role, affiliation, country, and email address. Providing this information is compulsory (if you wish to continue with the questionnaire)<\/span><\/p>\n There are 10 main questions, one of which comprises 6 multiple-choice sub-questions. All these questions and sub-questions are optional.<\/span><\/p>\n The questionnaire should take no more than about 15 minutes to complete.<\/span><\/p>\n To assist the analysis, please only respond in English. \n– Establish some kind of organisation (e.g., a research society) for researchers of \u2018Critical Studies of AI and Education\u2019
\n– Organise a face-to-face conference for researchers of \u2018Critical Studies of AI and Education\u2019, to take place in (say) 9 months\u2019 time
\n– Organise an online ‘summer school’ for researchers and\/or educators to explore AI and Education from a critical studies perspective.
\n– Work towards establishing a journal for \u2018Critical Studies of AI and Education\u2019
\n– Develop an AI curriculum for schools that adopts a critical studies perspective.
\n– Develop an AI textbook for schools that adopts a critical studies perspective.<\/p>\n
\nWhat other activities should we, as researchers of ‘Critical Studies of AI and Education’, undertake?<\/p>\n
\nFor the ‘Critical Studies of AI and Education’ to develop as a research field (perhaps with a society, conference, journal, and funded PhDs), we will need funding. \u202f If you have any ideas about how we might secure funding, or contacts who might help us find funding, please say here.<\/p>\n
